About me

About me

Hi there

My name is Jon and I am a semi-professional photographer and proud member of the Barnet & Finchley Photographic Society, based in North London. I've been taking photographs for most of my life - but until the last few years, basically as a tourist on holiday.

About 10 years ago, I got the urge to really improve my photography, and joined my local camera clubto help me learn how to take better photographs. I like to think that I've succeeded in that to a great extent, but as we all know, you never stop learning.

One of the early challenges facing me was to learn that what the eye sees is not what the camera captures, so I decided to learn how to use post-processing software to get the results I was aiming for. Asking my fellow club members for advice, I found out that this would involve trying out a number of packages, each time going through a long learning cycle until I came across the Skylum packages.

My initial entry into the Skylum universe was their package Luminar 4, followed by Luminar Ai and then finally to Luminar Neo. The two main features that made me a complete fan were the ease of use and the amazing AI tools that allowed me to achieve results, often using a single slider, that would have required a long and complicated process to achieve in other packages and since the original launch many new features have been added - and they keep adding more!

I also discovered that many of my fellow club members were struggling to achieve the results they wanted and now, many of them are dedicated users of Luminar Neo.

If you are a member of a photo club and would like a talk about Luminar Neo and post-processing, please contact me as I offer talks and demonstrations, in person if local or on Zoom if your club is a bit further away.
